Drop wire clips enable cables (such as coaxial cables) to be attached and supported to poles, buildings, or any other type of support wire, reducing any compromise on the signal transmission capabilities of the drop cable. The clamp is also beneficial because it supports The cable weights and sets tension on the line because it relieves stress on the connection points, such as those passing through buildings or utility poles.
Drop clips are used to add single and two-pair fiber drops at drive hooks, jumper clips, house hooks, and various other accessories for drop-ins. In addition, drop clips are used to support ATS lead-in spans at slings and construction strands. In most cases, these clips are removable.
Drop clips are useful because the twisted pair pattern has a plate (hole) and a slot that quickly lowers from the end of the slot. This allows the clamps to hang from the appropriate anchors. The slot is sized to accept the cable without threading. Additionally, the portion of the cable that transmits the signal does not require compression. The cable is positioned in the slot by wrapping an isolated support wire around the slot.
Drop clips are available in both wire-wrap and compression types, both of which require the clip to not degrade the signal quality by damaging the cable or signal transmitted through the insulation. The drop clip is made with an open slot to accommodate the cable without threads, while the open portion of the slot is well defined and supported by the edge to be able to support the stranded clip separate from the outgoing wire. On the other hand, the plate extends from one end of the slot and provides a source of engagement.
